Meet the Versatile and Passionate Performer
My name is Karen Burris, and I am the woman behind Mary Macaroni Entertainment. I have been active in the industry for more than 18 years. My alter ego is Mary Macaroni, a singer, songwriter, guitarist, and magician—the ultimate children’s entertainer.
I create meaningful connections with children through my electrifying performances. In my shows, kids are given the opportunity to assist me with my magic tricks, participate in face-painting and balloon-sculpting activities, and dance to their hearts’ delight.
Personal Background
Born in Wisconsin, I was raised on a farm alongside seven brothers and sisters. I received my degree in music and business from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, after which I began my performance career with my first job singing and dancing at Valleyfair Amusement Park in Minnesota
My career in the entertainment industry has taken me to several locations has taken me to all 50 states. I have also traveled to various parts of the world including the Caribbean, Mexico, South America, Asia, Canada, Africa, and the Middle East.
Career and Credentials
I perform at more than 400 events per year, making appearing at festivals, birthday parties, corporate family days, libraries, park districts, and community concerts.
Every summer, I participate in Chicago’s great street festivals, including Retro on Roscoe, Do Division, West Fest, Wicker Park Fest, Taste of Polonia, Ben Fest, and Green Fest.
Other Appearances
Over the years, I have provided entertainment for audiences in Carnival Cruise Lines, amusement parks, Chicago’s Navy Pier, and the Spirit of Chicago. I have also organized shows for the Chicago Bulls Chicago Fire and many other corporations.
My celebrity clients include Mike Ditka, Bill Nye the Science Guy, and Michael Jordan. In addition, I have also performed for the children and grandchildren of Jerry Springer, Joan Cusack, Allison Rosati, and Roseanne Tellez.
During my world tour that featured shows in Singapore, Diego Garcia, and Bahrain, I had the privilege of performing for our American troops.
Professional Ventures
In addition to family entertainment, I have also sung with the Cornerstone Chorale and Brass at Carnegie Hall, Grand Avenue Big Band, Lincoln Center, and Chicago Choral Artists.
Throughout my career, I have accrued experience as the host of Kidbucks Game Shows and worked as a trade show model and actress. I have also participated in magic acts as a magician’s assistant or “box jumper.”
